Welcome to the new PurposeFULL Seed blog for 2023!
December 30th…..
It’s the end of the year, and most of us at this time are reflecting on the year that was, and contemplating what we want in the coming 365 days. It’s a time of review and re-visioning, and I love it. I’ve learned that I get great clarity when I have quiet time. However, with a husband and house of 3 children (pre-teen, teenager, and a soon-to-be HS graduate), not to mention my very cute, but loud dog Willow, there is little space at home for quiet.
That is until Willow and I decide to take our morning walks. Early in the morning, before people are up, and before life starts moving, Willow and I like to go for a walk. She does her sniffing and handles nature’s business. While I, just think. When I was a teacher, my best lessons came to me in the shower. Now, my best reflections on the big questions in life come to me while walking with my dog. Questions like:
- What do I want from life?
- Am I living in a way that will make my dreams possible?
- What will I cook for dinner? (seriously, this one gives me major anxiety! Parents who cook will understand!)
Somehow, in the peace of walking my fur baby through the neighborhood, I get clarity. When I don’t do it, I can feel it in my spirit and my mind. My mind feels clouded and confused. I not only feel it in my body but I’m inevitably frustrated at the grocery store.
So, this year, I’m committing to walking Willow regularly (great for exercise!) and organically allowing the lessons of life to come to me while doing so. I’m calling it “The Chronicles of Dog Walking With Purpose,” because everything we do, we should do with intention, even walking the dog.
Hope you’ll tune in to hear the epiphanies and funny lessons that come to me on the trail.
